What is Davy Health

One call keeps patients and their care team connected.

Davy Health is a personalized, clinician-guided AI calling service that keeps patients with chronic conditions connected to their care teams, on any phone and in their language, so problems are caught early and health outcomes improve.

Clinically personalized

Built around each patient's care plan

Calls are designed to follow the patient's conditions, medications and care plan, using rules agreed with their own care team.

Personalized to the person

Their language. Any phone. Any network.

Patients are called in the language they prefer, starting with Kinyarwanda and English, on the phone and mobile network they already use.

People stay in charge

Clinicians decide. Always.

Davy Health never diagnoses or prescribes. It helps patients take an active role in their care and tells health workers who needs them.

How it works

One phone call. A whole care team informed.

Davy Health calls, on the phone they already own.

Enrolled patients get a scheduled check-in call on any phone, including a basic feature phone. No app to download, no internet, no account.

The patient simply speaks.

Short, friendly questions in the patient's language, starting with Kinyarwanda, about medication, symptoms and blood pressure or glucose readings, one at a time. Every answer becomes a structured record.

Good morning! Did you take your blood pressure tablets today?
Yes, this morning. But my head has been aching.

Clinical rules flag who needs help today.

Answers are checked against rules agreed with each care team. Patients are ranked by urgency, so health workers know whom to call first. Davy Health never diagnoses or prescribes.

On track

A health worker follows up, in time.

The nurse or community health worker reaches the patient days after a problem starts, not months later at the next clinic visit. Their limited time goes to the people at highest risk.

The challenge

Bridging the communication gap in chronic care.

Bridging the communication gap between patients and their care teams, empowering patients to take an active role in their health and care.

People living with high blood pressure or diabetes leave the clinic with a prescription, then go weeks or months without contact. Too often, the first warning sign is a stroke or kidney failure.

01

Patients miss follow-ups

Weeks pass between visits. Tablets run out or get skipped, and nobody notices.

02

Care teams lack timely insight

Nurses learn about problems at the next visit, or in the emergency room.

03

Patients need more support

Older and rural patients get little help managing their health at home.

PATIENTS TOLD US

They use basic phones or find reading hard, so we chose voice calls over an app.

PATIENTS TOLD US

Long calls are tiring, so calls are short and ask one question at a time.

HEALTH WORKERS TOLD US

They can't reach everyone, so alerts are ranked by urgency.

CLINICIANS TOLD US

They must stay in control, so every alert goes to a person, and the AI never diagnoses.

Building in public

Three safety features we're building next.

Before our first pilot in Rwanda, we're adding these protections.

A nurse preparing medication

Emergency red-flag alerts

Danger signs like chest pain trigger urgent-care advice and an instant alert to the nurse.

In development

SMS alerts for health workers

Urgent cases reach community health workers by text, not only on a dashboard.

In development

Kinyarwanda accuracy tracking

We measure how well the AI understands every answer. Unclear calls get human review.

In development
Data protection

Health data is personal. We treat it that way.

Patients and partners trust us with sensitive information. Here is how Davy Health collects, processes and protects it.

Consent comes first

Patients are enrolled through their clinic or programme and give informed consent before any call. They can stop the calls at any time.

Only what care needs

We collect only what follow-up requires: medication, symptoms and health readings. We never sell patient data or use it for advertising.

Access limited to the care team

Only authorised health workers at the patient's own clinic or programme can see their records, and every access is logged.

Partners stay in control

Patient data belongs to the partner institution. We process it only on their instructions, under a written data processing agreement.

Secure by design

Data is encrypted when it moves and where it is stored, and our technology providers are bound by data protection agreements. Hosting and security settings are finalised before any patient is enrolled.

Built for Rwanda's law

Davy Health is designed to comply with Rwanda's Law No. 058/2021 on the protection of personal data and privacy, including registration with the National Cyber Security Authority before our pilot begins.

How a patient's data moves
  1. ConsentThe clinic enrols the patient, who agrees to the calls.
  2. CallDavy Health asks short questions and records the answers.
  3. CheckAnswers are checked against clinical rules set by the care team.
  4. ShareOnly the patient's care team sees the results and alerts.
  5. RetainData is kept only as long as agreed with the partner, then deleted.
FAQ

Questions we hear often.

What do you mean by "personalized"?

Personalized in two ways. Clinically: calls are designed to follow each patient's conditions, medications and care plan, using rules agreed with their care team. Technically: patients are called in the language they prefer, on whatever phone and mobile network they already use.

Does it alert nurses if a patient's condition gets worse?

Yes. That's at the core of Davy Health. If answers show missed doses, worsening symptoms or a high reading, the patient is flagged on the care team's dashboard and ranked by urgency. Alert rules are agreed with each clinic, and clinicians make every clinical decision.

Can patients talk to a doctor through Davy Health?

Davy Health isn't a telemedicine service. It connects patients to their own care team: when a patient needs attention, their nurse or health worker follows up directly.

Do patients need a smartphone or internet?

No. Davy Health works through ordinary phone calls, so a basic feature phone is enough. No app, no data, no reading.

Which languages does it speak?

Our prototype works in English, and we are now testing Kinyarwanda, our first priority language. More African languages will follow as we expand.

How is patient data protected?

Patients give consent before any call, only their own care team can see their records, and we never sell patient data. Davy Health is designed to comply with Rwanda's personal data protection law. See the Data protection section above for details.
